Your culture war strategy for four full years cannot be to be repeatedly get kicked in the face and balls and say "Ow! That hurts!" You have to fight publicly for people. You need positive reinforcement of good media. You have to lean into the spectacle or whatever policy you pull off won't matter.

I can’t quite get it up for the whole “we need to listen to these people” thing that we did in 2016. I’m certainly not saying anyone is irredeemably evil or anything but I do believe there’s a moral crisis, a crisis of principles in this country
