Well if you dont want to use thunderstore either (though, its the better choice imo), there are going to be pages like modtale.net and whatnot

yeah, thunderstore is open source while curseforge isnt
January 12, 2026 at 2:32 PM
hm. I cant find any info about that. Yes, overwolf MADE a mod manager that connects to thunderstore (not r2modman, a different one) but it doesnt say anywhere that they OWN thunderstore.

the stupid useless ai overview lies to you and says they own it just because they made a mod manager for it
January 12, 2026 at 2:31 PM
my bad!
January 12, 2026 at 12:46 PM
ah, well, it was a bad choice, and im glad they managed to recover from it

i am simply hopeful of what the next 10 years of development for hytale will bring now that its finally going to be playable AND they are publishing it by themselves
January 12, 2026 at 12:45 PM
you also have the visual scripting tools that are coming with the game (which are also java but are way easier to learn)
January 12, 2026 at 12:37 PM
I hope im wrong and I enjoy it more than im expecting but im mostly there for the creative
January 12, 2026 at 12:34 PM
you can just post the mods anywhere else like thunderstore

there is no official mod page right now, that is coming later in the game's life
January 12, 2026 at 12:30 PM
plus the game comes with an in-game feedback and bug report tool

no webpages or anythin
January 12, 2026 at 11:47 AM
PERSONALLY. i think early access right now is a good idea because the exploration mode is going to need a lot of feedback

the developers ARE active and always listening
January 12, 2026 at 11:46 AM
creative mode and modding are pretty much fully done except for some tools that still need some work like machinima

exploration mode is probably lacking proper clear progression and an ending but is fully playable, and its gonna get better worldgen later

the story mode will be launched with 1.0

the biggest problem was riot buying it after years of development and THEN forcing them to redo the entire engine and game to a different language, which is the reason it didnt release at all at first

now that they got that old build that was almost ready they managed to get it to a good state
January 12, 2026 at 11:24 AM
honestly probably a good idea not to release it on any other markets until 1.0 is ready
January 12, 2026 at 11:22 AM
eh, honestly if they manage to make a lot of sales WITHOUT being on steam that is a really good thing for them

plus I feel like the most influential review system is youtube videos anyway
January 11, 2026 at 6:06 PM
but! if you want to wait for more reviews from other people or wait for more content to be done you should feel free to wait! I personally have too many plans with the tools they've shown.
January 11, 2026 at 6:02 PM
well, in ONE MONTH they've done 500+ commits and a lot of branch merges to the old build they managed to dig up from before the riot era, I can tell that they are working

plus, if people want to play the EA version and give feedback, why not let them. specially after 10 years waiting
January 11, 2026 at 6:02 PM
But, regardless, I think with that the content that is there right now I am going to have a blast both with vanilla exploration and creative, and even more with modded exploration and creative.

I do recommend you take a look at the blogposts in their page since last month, they have a lot of info.
January 11, 2026 at 5:58 PM
The good thing is that we have a lot of gameplay from the main channel (from a month ago) and we're also getting a look at more vanilla stuff in these previews.

Yes, the exploration mode is a bit shallow right now. They admitted that. Hell, it even warns you several times before buying the game.
January 11, 2026 at 5:56 PM
Well, the official modding support is ONE of the main selling points of the game, though NOT the main one.

The devs have already said that the exploration/survival mode still needs a lot of changes to be finished, but creative tools and modding are almost fully implemented (except for machimina)
