Yes that’s true. And I agree with your last sentence, but according to an interview I heard with Elizabeth May a PM gets clearance automatically if they don’t already have it. Not the same in that case. She also said that JT did not have it before he was elected.

Love the thought but constitutionally tricky to have clandestine services decide who can run for leadership and who can’t. A PM who doesn’t already have it, will automatically be granted clearance without the normal review. Another good reason Cons lost the election.
