11/2024 update: working on it but I'm still not sure I'm really here yet because I can only take so much social media checking and I'm lazy. Still easier to find me on Mastodon at the moment: @[email protected]

Isn't this a big part of the AI bubble in a nutshell?

I assume the implications are why the flyer touts her role as a committee chair...

I think I saw someone say Tom Sherwood tied it to a possible delegate run. Which would be an interesting move.

Hard to believe that this bridge is less than 11 years old.
Photo of the not yet finished pedestrian bridge connecting the Rhode Island Ave Metro to the MBT and points west. The structure is in place but the deck is not finished nor any railings.

What *would* be nice is a better connection between US-1 and the Potomac Yard Trail - the zig-zag ramp from 4MR can be challenging, and the newer ramp from 4MR to the east side of US-1 doesn't directly connect right there.

And this is why I keep a boot/glove dryer in my office...

Yeah - I'm at a bit of a loss as to the problem it would solve, given how messy the connection north to Eads is and how uninviting it can be. Not to mention any logistical complications around the water treatment plant's infrastructure (plus the power lines).

Why am I getting Brooke Pinto promo mail?!?

For all of the terrible shady things that they do as a company, I have to give a teeny bit of credit to Google/YouTubeTV for including the link to Monumental's own streaming service in their "hey, we couldn't reach a deal to keep their network in our lineup" email.

The oil change/maintenance effort on my Pinion is FAR better than the same maintenance on my previous Shimano Alfine hub.

Shifting is overall smooth like any other IGH except for a little hitch when shifting between gear groups. I have the 18 speed so shifting from 6-7 or 12-13 is a bit more deliberate. Still, love the even gear spacing and wide range.

I had a Priority ebike but also have a bike with a Pinion gearbox.

Priority makes good bikes and stood behind them when I needed work done at a LBS.

I love the Pinion gearbox. Easy oil change once a year. The cable install is similar to a Enviolo or Rohloff hub so the LBS was OK with that.

Yes, this will be an improvement over current conditions where people share a really narrow sidewalk by giving them a somewhat narrow sidewalk. But they could do so much better, cheaper, for more people. Alas.

Agree. There's no good reason besides car brain why DDOT didn't take a lane of Michigan five years ago when they installed the lanes on Irving. Or when they installed the cycletrack on Monroe. Or when they let Catholic close a lane for construction. Would make it safer for drivers too.

Quite a turnout this lovely Sunday morning @ward5familybiking.bsky.social
View of the large group on Quincy NE between Lincoln and 1st.

The "media" has to take a huge share of the blame here, though. If you're hearing on the "news" about how dangerous it is, but aren't experiencing it yourself, it *must* be happening elsewhere, no?

He might be happier at 1600 SE...there's a McDonald's right across the street!

Lovely choice from my homeland!

I believe it! Plenty of things to lock up to, but not a lot of bike rack space, from what I recall.

I do that a fair amount when mixing up my commute between Suitland and Edgewood. But if I weren't trying to get to that far north on the MBT, it'd be much more sensible to go a different route.

Here's a couple:

Family adventure to witness the miracle that is the Denny's Grand Slam

Avoids the big hill part, but you were already in Ivy City (which you probably got to via West Virginia) and are going to stop at the Rosedale library for an event before heading back home

That's pretty modest! Wasn't that long ago Nebraska still had I think 4 former coaches on the payroll to the tune of $26M...which wasn't even the most in football.

I did not have any bananas thrown at me today. Big disappointment.
