After 12 years at Stirling, I'm leaving the University in July to take up a new post at Strathclyde in August.
This has been the view from my office window for over a decade and I'm going to miss it almost as much as the wonderful friends, colleagues and students in Pathfoot.

Finished this belter of a novel on my sunny train ride earlier. Just as full of intrigue and feisty, fearless characters as The Unpicking. Hugely looking forward to chairing the launch on 30th April (details in 2nd image) and hearing more from the wonderful @badsvillebroad.bsky.social

Genuinely gutted that Doolan has gone. An absolute legend of Partick Thistle, but the time had probably come. His name will still be sung at Firhill though! 🇧🇪 🇧🇪

Loved this one -- 'Munichs' by David Peace. Combines the capturing of voice from Damned United with the interest in repetition/form of Red or Dead. Probably my favourite of his football novels and certainly the most moving.

On a bit of a Highsmith kick at the minute. Can we just take a moment to appreciate how gloriously naff these 80s covers are. Although they did retail for only £1.25 (😱) so guess we can let them away with it...

Whilst reading Chris Paling's account of navigating the industry, left, I grew fascinated with the novel he was struggling to publish, right. It's a great read -- full of twists and quirky characters BUT also lumpy moments which show why some editors passed on it 📚 Two extremely interesting reads!

Finished this one a week or so ago and been thinking about it (and listening to the cracking album that goes along with it) ever since. As lyrical as George Mackay Brown and reminds me of Sara Baume's wonderful Spill Simmer Falter Wither in its character study too. Highly recommend!
