What a treat to represent AromaPrime for this article in The Guardian!

I discuss how themed smells are developed, with a focus on scary attractions. 👻

The article will be printed on Saturday. 👃

Experience: I create smells that scare people
The scents that get people gagging the most are usually bin juice or rotting fish

We criticise UK theme parks for unthemed construction barriers that spoil the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, *Buckingham Palace* has its regal facade permanently littered with these 👷‍♂️

It wasn't until I finished editing this that I realised it's probably incorrect to call her 'Antoinette' like it's a surname. More importantly, what did she smell like? 🍰

@aromaprime.bsky.social supported AVM Curiosities in the development of a smell for the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Yesterday, I was excited to find smell stations in Harrods!

A staff member told me that they had been inspired by smell stations in a Bordeaux wine museum.

Visual representations of the smells featured are seen within bell jars. The smells actually come from within the table structures. 💨

This is my big drawer of themed smell history!

It is full of documents and artefacts, some going back decades. I often refer to these when working on my smell handbook.

Do you recognise anything here? 🔍

I was interviewed for a Japanese newspaper, The Asahi Shimbun!

The article talks about the AromaPrime smells onboard the museum ship Brunel's SS Great Britain.

A lovely first day at the IAAPA Expo Europe, and a treat to find my project about historic Disneyland smells in Park World magazine!

Having a lovely time at the IAAPA Expo Europe after the plane for Barcelona landed in Valencia last night due to a storm and I banded together with a ragtag team to drive down the coast for several hours before getting to my hotel at 6:30am

Disney Dan Becker is joined by @liamrfindlay.bsky.social ‬- a Theme Park & Museum Smell Specialist! They discuss the history of smells in theme parks and Dan gets to sample what Disneyland smelled like in the 60's!

Respectfully, AI generated imagery in an event poster communicates that it's an amateur production 🤓

Back home after a brilliant day at York as part of their Public History Conference where I hosted a workshop on the ethics of using sensory technology in heritage, museums, and historical research. Many a smell was sniffed!

There were more children than I expected, and it makes sense, because it's a brilliant place for children to explore and stay occupied over multiple visits.
