I just paid for somebody else's shopping. They were ahead of me in the supermarket having a terrible time, exhausted and dishevelled, phone failing. Near tears, they asked to go to their car to find a payment card. So I paid for their shopping, then mine, and buggered off. I hope their day improved.

#Darlington Xmas lights switch on this evening - what an awful event. Appalling crowd control, rude people, terrible sound system (so much bass, so little clarity) and an hour to get out of car park.
