We call upon the Bar Association and the legal community to reconsider the true purpose of justice. A legal system that fails to uphold the rights of victims wounds society’s conscience. Justice is not about granting privileges to offenders but about ensuring fairness and accountability.

Justice must be equal for all. If an individual possesses the mental capacity to comprehend the severity of their crime, they must be held accountable for their actions, regardless of their age.

The rights of victims come first. The primary function of the law is not merely to protect offenders but to ensure the safety and justice of victims and society.

As the Liberal Party, we state our position clearly:

If the age of criminal activity is decreasing, accountability must also be adjusted accordingly. Particularly in cases involving severe crimes, individuals must be subject to the penal system regardless of their age.

Protecting 15- and 16-year-olds who commit premeditated and deliberate murder under the principle of the "best interests of the child" undermines society’s sense of justice and eliminates the deterrent effect of the law.

In a state governed by the rule of law, individuals should be judged not by their age but by their awareness of their actions.

It is unacceptable for those responsible for Ahmet Minguzzi’s horrific murder to still be classified as "children," while the victim’s demand for justice is disregarded.

As the Liberal Party, we acknowledge that all individuals, including offenders, have the right to a fair trial. However, we reject the notion that individuals who commit heinous crimes should receive special treatment solely based on their age.

Justice is not merely about protecting offenders; it must first and foremost safeguard the rights of victims and ensure public safety.

The recent statement by the Bar Association regarding juveniles involved in crime reflects an approach that overlooks the fundamental purpose of the legal system and places the rights of victims in the background.

To ensure that no family ever endures such a tragedy, we firmly believe that the legal system must function more effectively in delivering justice.
