er, it's NOT on you to solve a systemic problem with your overwork.

I think it's worth asking ourselves Dr. Zha's question: "what happens when women [or men or nb folks], collectively, decide to stop giving ourselves to systems that feel entitled to our sacrifice?" What would surrendering look like in your worklife friends? meredith.wolfwater.com/wordpress/20...

A colleague who is also working on surrender and I were talking yesterday and she said to never try to solve a systemic problem with a personal solution. She's so right. It's on you to solve a systemic problem with your overwork. You don't owe anyone that.

I've been practicing surrender a lot lately, not just around my illness, but at work, at home, etc. Surrender isn't giving up, it's letting go. It's freeing ourselves from expectations that will never be met. It's accepting the things we can't change. It sucks sometimes, but it's vital to well-being

I know. I can't fathom NOT taking precautions under those circumstances. I'd have lived in a bubble prior to coming to Italy!

Yeah, I think a lot of people think of precautions as all-or-nothing when anyone can start masking again when it's a high-risk time/situation or they absolutely want to avoid getting sick then or they want to protect a vulnerable person they care about.

I agree with Julia. As someone who was disabled by COVID and believes in the science about its many sequelae, I do think the advocates she describes are harming efforts to get the public to take COVID seriously. People shouldn't underestimate the value of good science communication.

So glad the acupuncture is working for you! My pain is mostly controlled by my meds other than the occasional flares, but my husband has neck pain and acupuncture has been a godsend for him. He was on the verge of getting surgery and finally let me talk him into doing it (after years!).
