I feel I've already been clear as to what I am about.
Book 11
Full Throttle
Joe Hill
503 pages
This was the lovely Subterranean Press edition given to me by my dad. Fantastic illustrations at the start and end of each of the stories.
The stories themselves are fantastic: several have gotten the small press treatment themselves.
Two King stories inside.

Book 10 Elsecaller/ King Lopen the First of Alethkar By Brandon Sanderson and Dan Wells/ Isaac Stewart
115 pages
This was an interesting pair of shorts stories that flesh out the Stormlight Archives and paves the way for folks who are not Sanderson to work and tell stories in that universe.

Book 9: Joy at Work by Marie Kondo and Scott Shoenshein.

5 hours and 19 minutes.

Basically The Life-changing Magic of Tidying-up, but for a workplace setting.

Actually some good and useful tips for managing physical, cognitive, and temporal spaces of your life.

Book 8
The Luminous Dead
Caitlin Starling
14 hours 9 minutes

Very creepy sci-fi horror involving cave diving, isolation and a bit if body horror. Fun read, but it didn't leave much of an impression.
Also heavy themes of capitalist exploitation and having to choose horror or hopelessness.

Book 7
Absolute Flash Vol 1: of two worlds By Jeff Lemere et al
168 pages
I'm really liking the stuff coming out of DC's absolute universe.
Its an interesting take on the mythology of the Flash and in keeping with the Absolute books, has a darker world which highlights the goodness of their heroes.

Book 6
Agnes at the End of the World
Kelly McWilliams
12 hours and 16 minutes
Bounced off 2-3 times before finally finishing it
Its about an apocalyptic cult, & the end really is coming. It's about how being right doesn't make a toxic culture less toxic and how faith can empower as well as imprison.

Book 5
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
V.E. Schwab
Really beautiful story about an immortal woman who can't be remembered.
Writing is beautiful like The Night Circus.
I got the Fablelistik edition. I don't love the cover, but do love the wooden bird & the illustrations throughout are AMAZING.

Book 4
The Power of Self-Compassion by Laurie J Cameron.
4 hours and 14 minutes.

About what you'd expect from a self-help book 🤷‍♂️ it was the shortest listen on my "not started" list and now it's crossed off.
It did have some decent advice, if its included in your Audible, its worth a listen.

Book 3
Secrets of the Lost Ledgers
CJ Archer

8 hours and 17 minutes on Audible.

Book 5 in a sort of romantasy/mystery series. The mysteries are all interesting and the social dynamics are well written and just off kilter enough to keep things interesting.
The leads need to hook up already, though.

Book two: Red Riding by Peirce Brown.
374 pages in this edition.
I got this fancy new edition thinking it was illustrated, and its not, but the typesetting was very nice and just look at that slipcase!

Worth checking out if you liked Enders Game, this is a story of rebellion and a training school

Tomorrow, & Tomorrow, & Tomorrow
Gabrielle Zevin
397 pages
Expected love story, it is, but not romantic. Follows characters through growth & loss & different loves
It leads with a poem
That love is all there is
Is all we know of Love
It is enough, the freight should be
Proportioned to the groove

Trump has gutted FEMA grants to build storm-resistant infrastructure in flood and hurricane-prone communities.

Two-thirds of counties that have lost funding voted for him in 2024.

Trump is even telling his own voters they're on their own. https://www.cbsnews.com/femagrantcuts/

Well, I do. Love that man.

As Trump tries to dismantle the Department of Education, remember that his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15% would give the 100 largest corporations a tax cut larger than the entire department's K-12 budget.

Really think about how twisted this all is.

I’m reading the gospels and one thing I find interesting is the emphasis places on Heaven Hierarchies. I don’t feel like many Christians these days wonder how they’re going to be seen in heaven. Kinda inside baseball from Jesus tbh

Trump's spending freeze was unconstitutional and a violation of the Impoundment Control Act.

But the public uproar yesterday should serve as a reminder that Trump's plans to gut federal programs are deeply unpopular.

Keep fighting. Keep up the pressure. Don't tune out. www.cnn.com/2025/01/29/p...
