Overcoming Struggles with Faith: A Personal Reflection

Journal Entry. Let me start by saying thank you God! You see, I've been diligent in thinking positive and letting go and letting God work. This was one of the hardest things I had to do because I had the mindset that if "I" can't do it, it…

Journal Entry. Let me start by saying thank you God! You see, I've been diligent in thinking positive and letting go and letting God work. This was one of the hardest things I had to do because I had the mindset that if "I" can't do it, it can't be done. However, I'm tired. My get up and go is taking a seat.

Cherishing Memories That Last

I don’t remember my mother’s voice.I don’t remember all her favorite sayings or her favorite meal.I never got to ask her what the craziest thing she ever did was, or what her favorite childhood memory was. I said that to say this: memories fade, but they don’t have…

I don’t remember my mother’s voice.I don’t remember all her favorite sayings or her favorite meal.I never got to ask her what the craziest thing she ever did was, or what her favorite childhood memory was. I said that to say this: memories fade, but they don’t have to. If you have the chance to preserve these priceless pieces of your loved ones now, why not do it?

Parenting is HARD

Journal Entry: I'm a laid-back parent. I give guidelines, share my experiences and my takeaways. If you learn from that...cool. If you have to experience it for yourself, I'll let you. Life is the greatest teacher. But these new kids like to tiptoe on your last nerve with shoes…

Journal Entry: I'm a laid-back parent. I give guidelines, share my experiences and my takeaways. If you learn from that...cool. If you have to experience it for yourself, I'll let you. Life is the greatest teacher. But these new kids like to tiptoe on your last nerve with shoes with wooden soles and track spikes. I'm tired. When they say it takes a village, it does, but this village only has me a mine. Yay, me! {insert sarcasm here}. Let me know I'm not the only one who feels like this.

How I Started to Reframe Negative Thoughts
Things I used to say to myself like a broken record: “I’ll never get that job.” “I’ll never get out of debt.” “I can never catch a break.” “I’m always broke.” “I’m fat and ugly.” I lived with these thoughts constantly playing in my mind until one day, I heard a quote by Henry Ford that struck a chord: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”
