Particularly ironic in re the CDC, which has a long and storied history of variously bad/homophobic/fatphobic/etc. policies, including under dem administrations.

Yes, you have to use your brain. All the time. Just identifying the speaker is not sufficient critical thinking.

Yes. the other books in the series have easter eggs and loose continuity, but you can read them all in any order, aside from heated rivalry/long game.

Also apparently there's a new "Children of" book next year and it's....700 pages? And about shrimp?

Adrian?

anyway, I hope the show is good but like, someone tell me if it sticks the landing. or if it just strips the couple's agency and ducks out on all the complexity it set up.

It set up this chewy messy emotional internal conflict situation, then you could feel her panic and go "uh shit now what?" and she defaulted to the most boring/obvious external conflict to flip the board. One of those where I got progressively madder about it the more I thought about it.

He literally said this. How he starts feeling very bad and anxious if he does not have at least one new thing going.

I just heard him on a podcast saying that his pub schedule is full through 2030 at least just with things written or in progress.

My man.

you didn't see the damage this child once did with nothing but a tube of toothpaste

this whole thing started because montessori is montessori and let him use one once under extremely controlled conditions, because they believe in child capability or whatever blah (the reason we picked it but shhhh)

moms, however, are the worst.

I *know* this is how little kids abort out of complicated things where they've gotten what they needed, but good lord it still just scrambles my brain every time.

Lol, yes. And the other problem with nationalizing state elections is that people draw a lot of off base conclusions about national mood/trends. it's like concluding something about women based on your one weird aunt who collects hedgehog statues.

The shutdown and doge are definitely in the mix. My campaigns did touch on doge, though generally briefly because it didn't activate northern VA voters in ad tests the way that abortion did (which was a fuckton). So it's there, but it can't be the whole story.
November 5, 2025 at 7:42 PM
The interesting part is VA house. 13 seats? *13*. There was one party guy saying "we're gonna get 10" and everyone was like "okay sure bro, it's going to be 5-7 but whatever."

13. That's not a shutdown thing, either. Not just.

Nor is it a promise of national destiny. what is? Man. 13
