His academic theories were pretty obviously regressive too. It never made any sense to me that he was popular. Then again, his popularity was obviously about something other than actual insights, rabid as his supporters always have been. So I suppose it was never going to make sense.

"Like many drivers, he grumbles about the pay. The job can feel dehumanizing, he said, particularly when he sees delivery robots doing the work. ... Another reason Mr. Layne stays at it is to pay off his debt from ordering too much food delivery. He has since cut back on the habit."

To chime in as a philosopher, I think part of the issue is that 20th-21st century philosophy never had a solid response to 19th century nihilism. There hasn't really been a solid, post-nihilism conception of truth that is also widely used, leaving room for "everything is subjective" type thinking.

That if parents should be blamed for being an asshole, and blaming the parents for their kids being an asshole is itself being an asshole, then the parents should not be blamed, which contradicts the first premise.

Hahaha what? No dude I used a reductio to show your own position leads to an absurd conclusion. The irony was just to emphasize the absurdity.

Whatever strokes your ego, bud.

Not very familiar with the concept of irony I take it? Nor the reductio ad absurdum it seems.

Don't worry, I don't blame you. I blame your parents.
August 26, 2025 at 12:27 PM
That's kind of an asshole thing to say.

Makker het idee dat deze grap zou suggereren dat vrouwen zich aanstellen heeft meer te maken met jouw preconcepties dan met de grap zelf.
