Yes, SMASHING MACHINE lost PLF screens to Taylor Swift and AVATAR 2, but a $6M opening represents outright audience rejection.

A24 will likely look hard at what went wrong with its release and marketing strategies, especially as Johnson and Blunt heavily promoted it.

I’m in favor of whatever it takes to get people to go to the movies. At the same time, it doesn’t help the cause if a heavily promoted $50M sports biopic gets body slammed at the box office by what appears to be 90-minute infomercial.
