There are differences of course, and the memes are amazing, so all this to say— I really love Yuri on Ice. I also really love Heated Rivalry. Boys on skates in love, what’s not to like? 💖

But what I really enjoyed was how much it brought me back to the years I spent writing Moments from His Grasp. The meetings at hotels. The texting. The rivalry with desire. The yearning. I spent months researching competitions and hotels and cities for them to meet in. It was a good, wonderful time.

The parallels are stark. Two skaters, one from Russia and one from Canada/US. The beach scene. The mutual admiration. The miscommunication. Those alone are enough to make me happy—
