I think it makes a big difference what the tone of the laugh is. There's "you're an idiot" laughing and "omg you're adorable and learning" laughing. There's times I felt laughed at as a kid and times I felt laughed with.

I get the frustration but they should be mad at people saying those things to them directly, not at a random joke that could mean multiple things that wasn't directed at anyone specific. People need to chill out and let go, even if only for their own mental health.

Sure, I've gotten flak for that too. Also, because I'm old, I've gotten flak for being a digital artist because "it's not real art, it does everything for you." Also got flak from an art school professor and multiple teachers for "drawing anime and cartoons" which aren't real art.

I'm even the one in the thread who brought up how lovely it is to work for furries because they value your work. I went to bed and woke up very confused about where others took that thread.

I'm utterly confused by people sometimes. Companies and individuals are terrible towards NSFW artists in the same way they're terrible to cam girls. And a lot of "respectable" institutions pay like shit because they can. That's a dig at institutions and social norms, not at artists! And deserved!

Maybe I'm just being old right now and things are better than they used to be. But if you talk to "normal", not constantly online people, they are more likely to respect the work of a magazine artist and more likely to shun you if they know you draw NSFW. It's not a diss, it's a reality for many.

I'm so confused, people thought it was a dunk? There's a reason a lot of NSFW artists still use two accounts. Some art jobs literally will not hire you if you have publicly posted NSFW online because companies overly cover their asses. Same as being caught as a fanfic writer.

I've only ever seen the unreadable light language when on hallucinogens so I'm with the other replies that you should check in with a doctor asap. It might be as simple as a medication side effect but it could be more serious.
