This thread is great and makes me think about how much we love a resistance movement, as long as it’s safely in the distant past, and viewed through the lens of the people that “won.” Legitimacy is not bestowed by justice but by power, which reserves violence as its own exclusive right.
In my self-defense classes I focus on how most people are socially conditioned to follow the norms of a civilized, polite society — and there is a MENTAL SHIFT required to use violence to defend from violence.
I'm reminded of this while watching our elected officials dithering and delaying. 1/

The smug I-told-you-so’s are so gross, like watching someone drown & calling it a swimming lesson. Realising you were used is humiliating. But at least this guy saw it. At least he’s protesting. Fascism demands loyalty over reality & feeds on the shame of those who realise they should’ve seen sooner
