I haven't seen this exact take before but I love it! It reminds me of something I read in Ilana Pardes's "Countertraditions in the Bible: A Feminist Approach." Check out the essay in there "Rachel's Dream: The Female Subplot," specifically pages 66-68.

"humanitarian city" means "concentration camp." And legacy orgs just spit back the language fed to them by Israel without questioning it. It is a disgrace that any organization reprints anything the IDF says anymore without the context that just about everything they say is a lie.

Definitely baffling to see news outlets do that. One thing that is so crazy to me is how Israeli propaganda has successfully brought down an Orwellian reality on our language, where everything means its opposite. "Ceasefire" means "endless war," "humanitarian corridor" means "death trap,"

Oh yes, for sure. It's just a different strategy of marginalization.

In a parallel way to how a systemically racist justice system is the means by which a racial caste system is enforced in the US, occupation and security objectives are not an alternative to apartheid but the means by which it is enforced while continuing the veneer of a commitment to equal rights.

And I told myself this despite living for 2 years in the settlements (as a minor) and knowing that de facto annexation had already been underway for some time. Eventually even before 10/7 I allowed myself to realize that these were not mutually exclusive. Apartheid in I-P operates thru occupation.

As an ex-liberal-Zionist this is exactly what I used to tell myself. I figured I could grant that the occupation was bad, and on account of this being military occupation rather than unequal citizenship, Israel was not apartheid. It's a much harder pill to swallow apartheid than occupation.

This is obviously AI. Logo in corner. Bent flagpole, flag is attached on top to pole and on bottom to sign in the distance behind it. Three-eyed frog. Faces distorted. Signs are meaningless: "Dance Change"? Please don't post shit like this, it's so obvious and bad enough dealing with the shit-plane.

I haven't been happy with everything she has done vis a vis the trans community. But she is in such a tough position. There is no one right way to stand up for trans people and I believe she is trying earnestly even if I believe she is wrong sometimes. She deserves respect not deadnaming.

I just read the op-ed. Polgren calls out the right's use of language of disease and contagion to describe trans people, conveniently ignoring how the NYT has been a main locus of spreading fears about "ROGD."
September 19, 2025 at 1:21 PM
Yeah this op-ed is extremely rich coming from the same publication that 3 weeks ago published an article by Ross Douthat that started: "In recent years, certain supporters of transgender rights have developed a public language of militancy and conflict." NYT is playing coy but playing the same game.

Can confirm. My Bluesky feed is pretty sanitized. My friend showed me her Xitter and there were multiple viral tweets using the freeze frame of his limp body on stage as react images for memes.
