It's very nuanced but I agree. I think connections with other people is one of the biggest ways people can change. It'll be a little harder to believe the lies about people you know. If it's healthy for you to maintain a connection with someone, it could be a good thing

The Right hid the truth about Heather Heyer with just plain lies, now there are so many AI photos of Renee Good, and I can't imagine how many people saw those and will never realize the truth.

Ages ago I saw a guy online who was down the alt right pipeline, until one day he stumbled on the video of Heather Heyer being run over in Charlottesville. For years he had believed lies that she hadn't actually been hit, when the video was out there the whole time. I think about it often

Second, and probably most importantly, it's tactically wrong. "No point discussing political opposition to fascism, there won't be elections anyway" cedes victory to your enemies. It's defeatism and nihilism.
