Yeah the prompt is very unsettling indeed. But it will have you repeat max this part's cutscene.

They used that icon only 2 times in the beginning! This is my complain

Maybe they don't save only in Domain-like quests, bc last time my game crashed during Lumin and Aether quest in sanctuary of Scions I had to repeat the whole domain.

Also although I try to exit during parts where entering cutscene is minimal, last time I exited during Albedo Durin Wanderer investigation - and I didn't have to repeat the break the veil sequence. I resumed exactly in the place I exited the quest.

I am playing game exactly like this patch, since I have only 1h in the morning to do the quest. And stopped in 3-4 parts already and returned to exactly them every time.

GI however should have utilize new icon better, since it at least ensures that you progress is saved.

They introduced new icon 'Saving' but didn't put it through all screens. In reality you can exit during any 'part' of quest and then return through special breach created near statue of Columbina back into that part.

Actually my initial idea was smth between first and second. But I am so tired of drawing flowers that are not distant enough to be blobs (I like blob painting)....
Sunny pictures are just easy in general, I think I know sunny pictures palette inside out, while dark ones always hard for me.
