While I'm glad things have changed, I don't quite understand why people had to bully others (I am others) for reading #manga 15 years ago - and now they love it.

So, for some context: In Germany, where I grew up, anime wasn't that uncommon. There has been an attempt of spreading #anime since the +

I think that it is correct that you have to understand the history and society to properly address issues such as #misogyny. After all, we seek to lift up voices of #Koreanwomen, not speak for them.

However, I think that the uncritical consumption of #hallyu products such as #kdramas or #kpop +
Unless you chose to study the country and its culture, which forces the person to specifically learn about these issues and perhaps also give them more of a right to involve themselves into the issues of a foreign country.

Bluesky deleted my first thread draft, but maybe that is not too bad.

In a separate class, we coincidentally talked about #genderperformativity and #JudithButler's theory of performing #gender. And while gender and #sexuality are two separate things, I think it is very interesting to think about +

I think the discussion around #niangpao #娘炮 really is not about the concern of the #Chinese public about a real social issue. It doesn't really fit into the traditional concepts of #masculinity featured in Chinese history.

I think this gives a nice overview + the-footnote.org/2021/10/18/t...

The discussion about #MilkySpicy really shows how normalized the sexualization of minors has become. I refuse to reproduce the pictures shown in the article, but we read an article about it on What's on #Weibo, which I recommend checking out for context. +

Freedom of Dress or Child Sexualization? China’s “Milky-Spicy Style” Fashion Trend Sparks Online Debate
An entire online economy has developed around the 'Milky-Spicy Trend,' which is embraced by some parents highlighting its innocence while disregarding potential negative consequences.

With the recent developments of the political situation in #Nepal, it is easy to explain how #fandom can empower and mobilize people on a political level.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Nepal's citizens were protesting corruption in the government, restrictions of expressiond of free +

Yayaya it is a funny story. There are very distinct steps that lead to me #LearningKorean and it all has to do with #transnational cultural flows and my sister getting a smartphone with YouTube on it.
So, it was normal for us to watch some TV after school and on Saturday morning (6am). And what +

I thought to myself that it would be easy to find an article talking about #이상혁, commonly known as #Faker, that was framing him in a specific way. However, apparently I underestimated the reverence and respect #lol players have for him. The google search is filled with positive articles describing +

One instance of very obvious bias in media coverage was the background to the hashtag #bayern3racist. The radio host Matthias Matuschik of the German radio Bayern 3 had voiced his "opinion" about the #BTS cover of "Fix You", a Coldplay song. Referencing the cover that went viral, he said he was +

wait, since I read through @itsallydee.bsky.social's post chain on the question of duality of other countries consuming Korean culture and Koreans objecting to seeing those other cultures in their Korean media representation: What about Western elements in Korean media? Are they rejected as well?
After reading the #article "K-pop fans question the importance of the K" by Korean JoongAng Daily, I think #Korean #kpop fans have been struggling with a new situation. Finally their own cultural media has gained and is gaining popularity and representation, which is wonderful. However, at the

Compared to the strict structure of Japanese school, I think German school is way more relaxed. Back in the 19th century German school was more similar to what we saw in the video, mostly in a sense of respect for the teacher and also providing for school in some sort of way. +

Since popular culture is meant to be relatable and a possibility for people to associate themselves with, it's always covering an interpretation of identity. Like, if I read BL, I'm usually relating to people who are members of the queer community, like mangas, or read fanfictions. Like
