By this point in the season most equipment is known to be compliant but occasionally someone will bring something new to the Olympics (not wanting their competitors to have a chance to copy it) and of questionable compliance thus creating some drama.

Occasionally, parts (usually runners) will be seized and sent off for laboratory testing!

In addition to the runner and weight checks, skeleton sleds can receive a post race inspection. Usually just checking for compliance to the basic dimensional regulations. They also check that the frame rails and side bumpers are properly sized and that the underside doesn't have aerodynamic features
