Black Americans have more intimate knowledge than most of us about what it's like to live in a police state. How ironic that all those great musicians like Buddy Guy & Howlin' Wolf managed to escape the slave states, make it to Chicago, only to have Donald Trump now send in the Slave State Guard.

The Republicans always take us to Opposite Land. They tell us that we have it so good while they rob us blind. From the reception they're getting at their own town halls, all the gerrymanders in the world can't save them come the midterms. But ICE & Hegseth's war fighters will most likely try.

I feel the same way about him. I love how he's able to trigger Trump. We need for him to keep doing it. But we need a president who'll loudly refuse to sacrifice the least powerful among us just to please "good" Republicans. That's why I lean toward Pritzker. He's not as pretty. That's also why.

Playing all sides against the middle is how today's Republicans roll. Josh and Lindsey are both just a bit more effete in their alpha male assertiveness than most of the others. But not a one of them can actually pull it off. Just imagine Markwayne Mullen versus a real man like Barry Goldwater.

In the old days, cabinet officers used to provide answers to questions from members of Congress. They'd have assistants sitting alongside them, whispering in their ear, if they were too lazy to make their own notes. Nobody ever refused to answer. Nobody used to shout insults at the questioner.

The URGENT APPEAL BY FORMER DOJ OFFICIALS says lots of things. But most important, that Justice can't co-exist with Trump's Vengeance. It won't change what Trump does. But it should be big in the history books. And an eternal slap in the face to the assholes on SCOTUS who signed on to IMMUNITY.

It's up to all of the Democratic Governors to fight for us now. So far only JB Pritzker & Gavin Newsom have spoken clearly enough to be understood & loud enough to be heard. Governors of Pennsylvania & Kentucky had something to say when Kamala was looking for a VP. Why aren't they speaking up now?

Trump can't distinguish between TV and reality. Fox keeps running 5-year-old footage of the George Floyd protests in Portland. They want to stir the pot. Dissension among us means more money for the Murdochs. Many in their audience can't tell what's happening. That includes our silly emperor.
