I have returned from a vacation where my phone mostly served as a camera/GPS as opposed to a communication device and I’m pleased to report that while semi-offline I saw many Cool Old Things, including—for the lit nerds (me)— the museum in the apartment where John Keats died.
book cases including Keats’ archive Painting of John Keats’ bedroom and plaque establishing the room as where he passed The antique bed modeled after the one Keats had in his room and passed away on Another angle of the museum and wooden bookcases

Astoria the Wild Turkey explores her favorite gardens in The Battery. Foraging opportunities abound now with insects, seeds, and other plant parts. 🦃 ❤️

I mean, I enjoyed its presence, it scared some tourists though

How on earth did they get there? It doesn't seem like a good place to be a turkey.

the google lens thing on my phone is glitching so instead I am here, like, “does anyone know birds”

Anyway, is this a turkey hanging out next to the sea creature carousel in Battery Park, or did my eyes deceive me yesterday??

When I saw this tour in Chicago there was NO Scientific American, by the way, and instead a magazine about cats. We all knew Gerard Way had range, though.

She wasn't paying, and it was beeping loud and shrill every 15 seconds, but she and her mom had headphones on so I guess were able to ignore it?? But meanwhile the other 10+ people in the laundromat were like... eyes twitching, clutching their temples, looking at each other like 😬

wash to finish and standing there for about 10 minutes while a little girl sat in this massage chair they inexplicably have in the laundromat next to the (many) regular chairs. It's cash-operated, and if you don't pay to turn it on it beeps really loud to dissuade you from sitting there or whatever

This is wild! This year I've noticed what I have been referring to as an uptick in like... peculiar antisocial behavior? I'm not talking about anything dramatic, overtly harmful, or illegal, but WEIRD STUFF. Like, at my laundromat a few weeks ago (I'm still haunted by this) I was waiting for my

I am genuinely short circuiting over Labor Day weekend being... next weekend... body and brain in denial over it

I read The Summer I Turned Pretty series when I was like 14, and the show hits different for a lot of reasons as an adult, but primarily I'm like "Why don't any of their parents know where they are or what they are doing like, ever???"

Nifty!! Doctaj reminds me of the kinds of monikers radio DJs gave themselves when I was a kid? Seems like a tough decision, though!
