Narcissists base what they think your character is on the way you react to their abuse. If you oppose them in any way or try to treat them how they treat you, you are now “petty” and “dramatic”. If you don’t give them blind acceptance and react the way they want, you become “the problem”.

Calling out abusive behavior isn’t mean or spiteful, you are standing up for yourself.
