Meanwhile, over on @Facebook, a content creator posting on the Roman world cannot recognize Romans. The late Peter Connolly will be spinning in his grave. 😵‍💫 #AncientBluesky

#OnThisDay - 7 October - ca. 14 BC Drusus the Younger, son of the Emperor Tiberius, was born. His death in AD 23 was thought natural, though it was later alleged that he had been poisoned by Sejanus. #AncientHistory 🏺

"Anastasi brought workmen [and] had them pry sections of plaster from the walls of an ancient tomb chapel carved into the limestone hills during the 18th Dynasty, before 1350 BC. [The fragments] are considered one of the high points of Egyptian artistic history," www.history.com/articles/anc...

"The remains of the wooden elements of the ship, dates back to the 1st - 2nd centuries ... about 12.5m long, also contains many elements of the ship's superstructure, which represents a rather rare find of naval architecture."

A wonderful review of TIBERIUS by Armchair Classicist: "Powell's book hits the 'scholarly sweet spot' for me for lack of a better term. If you are researching Tiberius, you probably love the copious amount of endnotes and bibliographical info in the back." www.facebook.com/profile.php?...

"The findings from the excavation ... suggest that in the late Iron Age (approx. 1-400 CE) a significant fortified site existed at the Stülper Huk [near Lübeck]."

Tollund Man

A 'bog body' dating to c. 405-380 BC, Tollund Man appears to have been ritually killed before being laid in a fetal position.

His last meal, eaten 12-24 hours before death, consisted of burnt porridge of barley, flax, wild seeds, and sand.
