I’ve always appreciated video games as an art form, but XC2 stuck in my mind and made me want to someday make games too (and then continued to stick in my mind for 8 years). I want to make something that’s special to people in the same way XC2 is special to me. That’s my role in this world.

For the past 8 years, I’ve replayed it over and over, listened through the soundtrack, watched through the cutscenes, collected fanart, talked about it to anyone I could, everything. I still cry watching the final cutscene, every single time.

I first played XC2 in 2017, after getting it as a gift on Christmas. I was 15 and scatterbrained, so it took me a while to finally play all the way through, but by the end I was in love. It’s not the first game to tell a good story, and far from the best, but something about it was special to me.

Just seeing this post a year later, this might be one of the best fanarts of Pneuma I’ve ever seen 💚 Happy birthday XC2!

Maybe it’s just not the kind of game that everyone would enjoy? You need to have the capability to persevere and put your mind towards actively learning the game. That doesn’t make it categorically “too hard” though, in my opinion.

I played HK a little more than average so my perception is a little skewed but Silksong really was not *that* hard??? There were hard bosses that took a couple hours but nothing was so hard that it was unenjoyable or rage-inducing. I also do not “rage” at games in general, so…
