Why did I join the Fediverse? I work for Facebook (Meta), and during my free time, when I’m not dealing with everyone else’s nonsense, I want to say what needs to be said without some censor trying to verify if everything I say is either profitable or politically correct. I will always tell the truth as politely as possible, but accuracy does not always mean popularity. For example, I take pride when I point out a scammer. I feel satisfaction, and I will share that link and occasionally a screenshot if I catch it fast enough. But I am not responsible if another administrator removes the scam post before it gains traction. They did the right thing — they removed the scam post. And just because you didn’t see it does not mean you should bend the knee toward the scammer who is crying like a little bitch that their post was removed by someone else. I need to be able to call someone an asshole when they are clearly being an asshole. I promise I’m not going to spend all day calling the same person an asshole. I have better things to do than focus on that one person, but I will call a spade a spade. I do not back down, shy away, or yield to assholes. Donald Trump is racist, sexist, homophobic, and a pedophile, and MAGA is a cult. I should be able to call Donald Trump a racist, sexist, homophobic pedophile, and his followers cult members. Love is love. I do not care if you are a man, woman, gender-neutral, straight, gay, bi, or whatever else you identify as; I want you to have the freedom to love whomever you love, provided they are a consenting adult. What is happening to Gaza is horrible. Israel is guilty of war crimes. But every single person I have seen asking for money has thus far been a scammer, sharing the same URLs as the scammers I see at work (Facebook). Gaza Verified is not credible because it seems to be scammers verifying themselves, along with perhaps a few people who mean well but are clearly being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, that is how scammers work: they take advantage of people. On that note, show me one post that is not a scam, and I will share it myself. Yes, let’s get the elephant out of the room and address the fact that I have moved a few times within the Fediverse. Being honest is not always popular. Being factual is not always popular. Doing both at the same time, unfortunately, seems to prove problematic. And it is unfortunate because hateful people have a place to say whatever they want, whenever they want. But if you’re a kind person, and not one of those hateful jerks, but not always popularly politically correct, that seems to be a problem on the Fediverse. I cannot promise that anywhere I join may not trigger some asshole and their friends with an agenda. I take issue against Donald Trump's MAGA douchebags and scammers. That was bound to put a target on my back. But I am not going to stop. In fact, I hope in time more people join me. We’d live in a better world without either. I am an American citizen, but I do not believe the United States of America is the greatest country on earth. Thus far, we are certainly not the worst place, but we have a lot of room for improvement. That is one of my so-called “not so politically correct” worldviews. Because I believe it is possible to like your country, but absolutely hate what it is becoming. This is all to say, I am going to be me, in spite of anyone. And I refuse to go quietly into some isolated corner, shouting up at the sky, where few, if anyone, will hear me.

Current weather:

Downpouring rain. ⛈️

Not the kind of light rain you can walk through, but the kind you could actually shower in — if you were feeling adventurous enough. I'm still enjoying my vacation, but I really would like to touch grass a bit more. I guess, in the meantime, it's more anime. 🤷

Before anyone asks, “If nuclear takes years — often decades — to build, why would they promote it?”

The answer is: infrastructure.

Our current infrastructure — and what’s planned for the near future — has been growing steadily to meet demand. But AI is on track to exceed that demand […]

I’m convinced AI is a ploy to promote nuclear power.

Why?

Right now, AI can run on green energy — solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, ocean, etc. But AI developers seem to be scaling up their datacenters at an alarming rate — arguably overbuilding beyond current projected needs.

Green […]

Just a quick reminder, if you haven't been paying attention, Israel has been shooting the pressing Gaza.

Gaza is basically a bucket, and they are shooting the people like they were fish in that bucket.

The most upsetting thing about all of this is twofold. First, nobody's going to do anything […]

In before some troll or possibly scammer, claims that they've restored services.

You dumb motherfucker. — Israel is not trying to be benevolent and restore the communication and service allowing people can know about the genocide. 🤦

They want to kill these people in the secret and in the dark […]

" Gaza City’s communications cut amid widening Israeli ground invasion "

That was from 2 weeks ago, since then Israel has completely isolated Gaza. There's nobody talking out of Gaza.

But the amount of scammers claiming to be from Gaza is greater than what the population of Gaza was before the […]

Looking for an alternative to Cloudflare is important.

As one of the most widely used domain proxies, based in the United States, Cloudflare could easily become America's version of the Great Firewall of China — if the U.S. government ever chooses to fully embrace authoritarian control.

If […]

Holy shit. — I think I found an alternative to Cloudflare. 🤯

The service is called "Defect"

They owned and managed by the organization called, "eQualitie" https://equalitie.org

Both of which appear to be:

Canada — North America.

Meaning, outside U.S. jurisdiction ! 🤩 […]

Tweet but Emily Zanotti @emzanotti

My children are not on the autism spectrum because I took Tylenol while pregnant. They're on the autism spectrum because I, a person who will wear only one type of shoe and can't eat food that is "too potato-y," had babies with a man who has an encyclopedic knowledge of European aristocracy but a limited ability to process social cues.

If Zen ever launches a "Zen Browser Foundation," "Zen Browser Corporation," "Zen Browser Non-profit," or something along those lines — based in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, or anywhere else on this planet outside the United States — I'll happily revisit this.

Why not add Zen Browser?

First, I'm already walking a "gray line" by recommending web browsers in the first place.

How so?

All modern web browsers are essentially soft forks of one of three upstream projects: Google Chromium (Blink), Apple Safari (WebKit), or Mozilla Firefox (Gecko). While […]

On top of everything else, this was an impressive, if slightly adrenaline-inducing, thing I had to stop and wait for on the way home from campus today. WOW.

The flagger had a hilarious comment about "The commuters aren't bad. The farmers are the worst! They won't stop for anything!"
A view from inside a car, looking down a very straight road, with a flagger waving his arms to get cars to stop. There's a truck behind him with a "wide load" sign, and a cherry-picker electrical truck with a guy in the bucket, pushing up the electric line over the road. The sky above is bright blue. The same view, but now with a truck that says "wide load" and also "House moving", and a literal house on a trailer coming down the road toward us. The house is wider than the entire two lane road. The house on the truck trailer, now right in front of my car, with the tractor part of the truck turning in front of me, and the house looking rather precarious on the trailer. An entire white house, two stories, with large windows, driving away down the dirt side road. It looks massive and totally weird up on a bunch of tiny little wheels.

I let Bailey (the Potato) toddle around in the office with the three older kittens, and Ronan is being so gentle with her. It's very sweet.

(For comparison, the big kids play with each other like it's a WWE match — Shane jumped off a carrier to land on Orla.)
