Dummy is the clown-sona of my lionsona, Denny. This reference shows various combinations of red, white, and black body coloring and clown face designs. This is purposefully done to imply that these colors are painted over Denny’s real fur, and his clown design is ever-changing. This means that artists are welcome to give Dummy whatever clown style they desire. I don’t have a particular canon for why or how Denny is a clown sometimes. He could be transformed into a clown, by some magical force or another character(s) putting him in makeup and costume. OR he could be a clown on his own accord, either by hobby or profession. Dummy could be Denny subconscious alter-ego, or just a character he performs. All I can really say is - Denny the Lion sometimes becomes Dummy the Clown-Lion. The reason or method can totally be interpreted by anyone who wants to draw/write/animate it. (Original line-art base for this reference sheet by BearlyFeline)

Waist-up sketch of Denny the lion smiling and point to the viewer, saying “You got this.” When I first posted my ref sheet on twitter, it was kind of like my “coming out” as a furry. Not only to my followers, but to the fandom in general. Like “Hey I’m here, I’d like to be part of the fun👉🥺👈” It felt kind of awkward and I was probably an even more nervous than I had already admitted. It was a dream to have another artist think my character was cool or interesting enough to draw, and I didn’t think it would happen. So it was incredibly surprising and affirming when Kotacat replied with this sketch within a few hours. 🥹🙏🏽🙌🏽🫶🏽💛🧡❤️🤎
