Editor & copywriter by day, serial hobbyist also by day bc I need a lot of sleep at night. Embroidery, cloud watching, archery, reading, piano, painting, and worrying about the current state of the world (not my favorite hobby but there nonetheless).
I hate that sometimes those mental health/executive functioning tips you see online are right.

My rent is gonna jump up $120 + a $40 parking fee we never had before, and I went into the office to ask what that was about, and they lowered the rent increase by $25. So this is your sign that it literally pays to be annoying (but also nice about it, I think that helped a lot).

It says a lot about the state of the country when I’m *extremely excited* that I was able to get a Covid vaccine appointment, same day, and they said I don’t have to prove eligibility 🙌🏼

I worked 12 hours today. Happy Labor Day!

I’m in the final round of interviews for the biggest job of my life and I think I’m just going to be in a constant state of anxiety until it’s all over 🙃

How I spent my weekend 🐎 🏹

I’m out paddleboarding and 2 bald eagles swooped down into the lake to try to catch something just a few yards away from me and part of me wishes I had been able to get that on video but I’m also just grateful I got to witness that at all. Wow.

I was telling my friend a fun library fact and she asked where I learned that. When I said “oh, I went to a library panel at comic con,” she laughed uproariously and said, “that’s the nerdiest thing I’ve ever heard and SO tracks for you.” 🤓

I’m always looking for fun workouts to try, and I know jumping rope is damn good exercise because I did just 15 minutes yesterday and my CFS/post-exertional malaise is telling me I have no choice but to Sit Down today.

Sometimes my hair does exactly what I want it to. Not usually, but sometimes.

Being on the inside at a literary magazine is such an interesting experience. We’re doing our last round of rereads & deciding the final pieces we’ll accept & there’s a lot of really great stories that aren’t gonna make it. But I had the privilege of getting to read them.

I spent the day copy editing for the first time in a while and, man, I forgot how much I love doing that. It’s like finding little grammar puzzles sprinkled through a text you get to go on a scavenger hunt through your style guide to solve.

Sometimes I forget I have a chronic illness and then I have a Bad Day and I’m like, oh yeah, I’m sick for like, ever.
June 4, 2025 at 9:15 PM
My “I Refuse To Be Sick Any Longer Than I Have To” morning routine: sleep in, gargle salt water (careful not to add too much salt or you’ll want to puke), spoonful of onion-infused honey, zicam, elderberry syrup, oil of oregano, echinacea, lemon & ginger tea with breakfast, probably take a nap.

I’m coming down with some kind of cold (pls god don’t let it be Covid) & it’s almost certainly from one of the TWO people I had to sit next to at a lecture who were actively sniffling or coughing profusely & WEREN’T WEARING MASKS. I mask at events but if the actual SICK people don’t… 😒

My dog has a spine disease and sometimes he’ll slip and plop his butt down or have trouble standing up and so often people will laugh and be like “haha awww he’s so silly.” He’s half paralyzed. What if your dad with an artificial hip stumbled and fell and I laughed at him?

I think one of the biggest perspective shifts I’ve had recently is that you only fear what *you* think is true. If you fear people judging you for x, it’s because YOU believe you are x. If I knew for a fact something wasn’t true, it wouldn’t even phase me.

On my walk today a crow randomly dive-bombed me 4x and now I fear I’ve inadvertently become the nemesis of a crow neighbor.

I’ve always been impressed with one-take scenes where the camera follows the characters with no cuts, but Adolescence on Netflix took that to a whole new level, holy shit.

Last year I had to take a break from archery bc of long covid. Today was my first day back and I’m so excited! I lost a lot of strength but I’m feeling very motivated to get it back.

Months of applying, nothing. Today, two interviews in one day and I moved forward to a second round for both 😭🙏🏼

Another cloudy Seattle night, another cool moon thing I don’t get to see.
