like I've been told that my videos get shared around, and that's awesome, but then people like. react publicly to the videos in negative ways? they don't have anything negative to say about the videos. they just don't like me for personal reasons. (which on its own would be fine with me.)

the funniest thing is that they all claim to want the drama to die. I LEFT. I am GONE. there is no possible way for me to exacerbate the drama. This is all on the people who so desperately want the drama to die.
lipamanka.gay
at this point now that I've completely moved on from some interpersonal drama and left all places in common with the people involved, the other people involved are STILL talking about me publicly by name? and whenever I come up they complain about me??

hey can any of my arabic speaking friends tell me what this says idk how to read it

accentual languages are a subset of tonal languages. japanese is an accentual language. therefore, japanese is a tonal language. why is this a hot take it should not be
lipamanka.gay
I don't think so. it can be easily used for types of kalama that are musi, but not music. and many people just call music "kalama" by itself, or choose other modifiers.

rabbi, rabbi, are you allowed to wipe your ass on yom kippur?
lipamanka.gay
auxlang? who's talking about toki pona being an auxlang? what? toki pona is so difficult to learn how to use properly that it's OBVIOUSLY a bad candidate. toki pona is really hard to learn. you are making so many false assumptions.
lipamanka.gay
too busy lol that would take forever
lipamanka.gay
what toki pona is capable of is not limited to what you can learn in your "it won't take me much time."
lipamanka.gay
you are imagining, not speaking from experience. are we going to keep going back and forth where I am going to tell you my experiences with toki pona and you are going to tell me "nah I think your experiences are wrong" or are you gonna stop being arrogant about toki pona
lipamanka.gay
I've talked about race in toki pona before without much issue. it isn't easy unless you really know what you're doing. most people do not know what they're doing.
lipamanka.gay
yeah you don't know what you're talking about with regards to toki pona, I know
lipamanka.gay
poka tawa cold not mean car because poka means "side." why are you talking so confidently about toki pona when you don't know what the words mean I don't get it

why are you telling me, a proficient speaker, where I'll be hitting limitations? your assumptions are wrong lmao.
lipamanka.gay
oh hey it's a video that mentions me by name thrice and agrees with me every single time! in any case it's clear you don't speak toki pona well enough to be making any of these claims so oh well
lipamanka.gay
I only know like, a dozen toki pona speaking wikipedia editors
lipamanka.gay
do you have a source for that? or is it something you assumed to be true without having learned the language or having spoken with speakers?

lexicalized phrases in other languages can't be used for other things without causing confusion. like try saying "grandfather clock" to refer to your grandfather's clock. it will cause confusion. this is not the case for most common toki pona compounds.
lipamanka.gay
greg is probably actively delexicalizing "tenpo pini," which most toki pona speakers do not do ime.
lipamanka.gay
therefore! I agree that these have become lexicalized to an extent!
lipamanka.gay
as for pana sona; I think there is no additional meaning beyond the sum of its parts, but it DOES never get used for like, "give knowingly." I guess the same goes for "kama sona," like "arrive knowingly." and you know what? if someone tried to use them for those meanings, they might be misunderstood
lipamanka.gay
well what else COULD kama sona mean, besides learning? what other ways does one become wise without experience? I think kama sona is not lexicalized. rather, the semantic space of the english word "learn" is equal to the subset of "kama" that is "kama sona." no meaning beyond the sum of its parts.

@oats.moe toki pona feed is down :(

oh yeah it's also not productive. there's a limited set of things you can communicate using this communication system. often, when trying to create completely novel commands, the system doesn't know what to do with them. and increasing complexity of sentences has the same problem.
