The magnitude of this piece cannot be overstated. "Rather than combating the rapid spread of health misinfo w/facts & clarity, Kennedy is amplifying it. The consequences aren’t abstract. They are measured in lives lost, disease outbreaks & an erosion of public trust that will take years to rebuild."

We saw RFK Jr's utter disregard for the people who work at HHS after the CDC shooting. He literally does not care about these people or value their work. We should be shocked by this show of contempt for people, but it is all part of Trump & Project 2025's sadistic "put them in trauma" treatment.

Yep. This on graphics processing is ironic: “For much of the AI boom, there have been whispers about Nvidia’s frenzied dealmaking. The chipmaker bolstered the market by pumping money into dozens of AI startups, many of which rely on Nvidia’s graphics processing units to develop & run their models.”

I would say the person offering the most Stuart Hall-like commentary of the contemporary cultural & political moment in the US is @tressiemcphd.bsky.social. Look at what she is doing in terms of both content & form. Like Hall, she provides nuanced analysis in accessible formats/modalities.

Stuart Hall took Thatcherism seriously & tried to understand its affective & aspirational appeal. Trumpism operates differently, as @cnewf.bsky.social notes, but the need to offer a cultural & political counter-strategy is key. I keep thinking about Hall’s adept use of new forms of media.

Exploring how keywords/keyimages “act as a kind of structure” is of course drawing on Raymond Williams’s formulation of keywords as theory/method. Keywords/keyimages is our neologism to capture what makes comics & graphic narratives different.
