That guy loves being a senator but he hates actually doing the work. this reads like someone forced a staffer to write the most non-statement possible with the primary focus being to not offend Josh Hawley

Lightning has a lot of radio frequency transients which can disrupt modern electronics. Could also be some sort of protection circuit responding to too much voltage on the power line coming into the TV

absolutely!

I’m sticking with extending grace to people who are feeling despair, thanks.

I wonder how much of that red line going up is caused by people buying things directly thru social media ads. It seems like that picked up the pace in the last 5 years or so. “direct to doomscroller” sales if you will

“We’ve handed you a coloring book, let’s get those crayons out America!”

This has given me a lot to think about with respect to architecture, infrastructure, and “this building has to be here”
January 14, 2026 at 12:58 PM
It’s the grandest example of and monument to the lowly telephone switching station! If AT&T could’ve built that building like a data center in the exurbs, they would have. Likewise if physics demanded a data center be built now in an urban core it would be built to fit in

Someone should tell Edwin Heathcote about 33 Thomas in Manhattan

And the heritage foundation isn’t “the gop” but sometimes rhetoric is sloppy and you need to read beyond the post

They don’t know how to win but they know the checks clear either way
January 14, 2026 at 9:57 AM
You’re being reductive because you need to shoehorn all these non-voting people into your specific rhetorical framing. Can’t tell if it’s intentional or if you‘re just another in a long line of experts at one thing who thinks he’s an expert at everything

the senate is part of congress but being needlessly pedantic makes people feel good so whatcha gonna do

I don't think it's possible to overstate how damaged our democracy has become on account of millions of people being trapped in social media / media halls of mirrors that prevent them from accessing even a rudimentary approximation of reality.

the human body excels at converting brown liquids into different brown liquids

used to be able to have a decent politics discussion on r/Maine but it seems like lately it’s just people just shouting rhetoric past each other. maybe that’s just online discourse everywhere now but it’s really annoying.

Negotiating a lease right now as a tenant for a restaurant. The market from my side wants rents to go down but so many property owners are maxed out on vacancy and can’t lower rent any more without loans being called. We’re due for a reset or lots of small city downtowns are just going to die.

The Bulwark is kinda the nexus of neoliberal pissbabyism right now so maybe we should just call it that

It’s even more confusing if you’ve ever met the guy. He’s really off-putting both physically and in the way he talks. Dude smells like three day old hot dog water

rural libertarian deontology would rather have failing local control than efficient government at a higher level. “Freedom“ is the point even if it’s not actually realized. It’s a steep hill.

Doesn’t really matter what the median voter thinks when the modal voter doesn’t vote

The rhetorical need for that guy to use tampons as opposed to any other (probably better) example

Over-educated people getting things wrong while criticizing others tone is kinda a hallmark of this place
December 26, 2025 at 2:30 PM
the US has a problem with concentrated power in the hand of over-educated idiots and people like you are going to be really confused when we start caring about the consent of the governed like we used to

Try being a leader? “Cost plus was a great solution to an immediate problem but it’s lipstick on a pig, we need universal healthcare” would be a start.
