Anyone watch "Death in Paradise"? Here via PBS we've seen two episodes of the first season with DI Wilson. Seb reminds me of Ruby as per enthusiasm. Darlene and Naomi are totally LOL in their reactions to DI Wilson, and the DI himself reminds me of DI Poole as per his reactions to the island.

Will never not be jarring to see armed goons demanding people’s papers on the street in the United States of America like it’s Nazi Germany. Fuckin nightmare scenes.

Merry Christmas Eve!
December 24, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Apparently in the US at the turn of the 20th century, there was necessary prep (shopping etc.), but Christmas didn't start 'til Christmas Eve when the tree was decorated, then Christmas Day was presents & party & sometimes a program at a local congregation, then more parties through New Year's Day.

The tree! I've finally stopped tinkering with it, LOL.

Homemade shortbread cookies turned out not quite like concrete but still difficult to eat so I pulverized 'em in the chopper and made a pie crust, then put in a filling made of whipped topping and chocolate syrup. Pie for breakfast, LOL. #CookingNotQuiteFail

"Death in Paradise" is a favorite show & my dad & I watched the "Deadly Curse" eppy tonight & I wrote down these lines:
"You're trying to watch English tv?"
"Is there any other kind?"
We watch a LOT of English tv via Ovation & PBS, so these lines are LOL.

I've been rereading recipes for holiday cooking. Some stuff we have anyway, some of the buy-only-for-the-holidays ingredients I've already got, and the rest we need to get--cranberry sauce, almond cheese, and the non-dairy versions of cream cheese and sour cream.
