My go-to solution for poor sales is the hope that the more people who know about Little Deer the better our odds of weathering this economic downturn. There’s 7 million people on this island! If 2 signed up for an annual graphic novel subscription we’d have rent made!

There were 3 conflicting cartooning events on last weekend and we’re in a recession and cost of living crisis that aren’t being addressed in Ireland’s 2026 budget so I don’t blame people for not going out and not spending.

Going back to our first DCAF post-lockdown, that’s 14 DCAF events, and October 5th was unfortunately our lowest. Including a DCAF last year that happened during a red storm warning. We made 1/3 of our highest ever DCAF (Dec22) and basically half of what we made just this past July.

A small fire at the front of the bookshop was started last night after rubbish bags that were awaiting collection were set on fire. The guards don’t have reason at this time to believe it was a targeted attack. Thankfully the damage was limited and everyone is safe. We are open for business as usual
