Little Hooves & Cascadia

A farm full of miniature horses and their larger cousins, a group of rare Caspian horses, and the herd matriarch, the almighty tallest, a rare Suffolk Punch draft horse. This is the home of Little Hooves and Cascadia Horses.
Seeds are sprouting. There were casualties, however, by a four-legged creature named Bridget, who toppled the little container of golden cherry tomatoes. They needed to be thinned anyway, but I never thought it would be via massacre.

While hopeful, we're unsure if we'll have foals this year, so we're starting a veggie garden and setting up a farm stand to keep the farm productive. Thanks to the horses, we have an ample supply of compost and manure. We want to contribute to feeding people and fighting against food insecurity.

Sunny wants to know what's up with this weather. What's all that white stuff?

Our 2024 Caspian colt Cascadia Cinnabar headed to his new home today. Congrats to his owner, who is no stranger to Caspians! She couldn't wait to get this little guy, a naturally sweet fellow that will be a perfect companion gelding for her mare and a child's mount for her young family members.

New roof and siding! It was extremely difficult to get financing, though. Why? Thanks to Trump's tariffs in 2019, many U.S. farms defaulted, and banks and CUs pulled away from financing "agriculture." Even though we easily refinanced in 2018, we were denied this year. Elections have consequences!

Disappointed in Facebook today. It's following in the footsteps of former Twitter.

Our 2025 foaling season will be minimal with only one mare bred. Little Hooves Moonstone Majesty was sent to Oregon earlier this year for a breeding with Little Hooves Smoky Haze, a stallion we sold as a colt. For those who don't know, Smoky Haze was a son out of Rose, who passed away last year.
