Paying 50% more for coffee beans. I’m not sure that’s something “coming back” to the US. Also, 3 more steel manufacturing sites shutting down in IL and PA despite even higher protectionist tariffs.
How is this supposed to work again?

I think what I’m most upset about is that I thought our lifetime was the best lifetime. I was led to believe that we were past inhibitions and prejudices. We will still get to that promised land though.

Things feel like they are starting to come to a boil. Try to capture your thoughts and actions as they came, as they change.
History is being made - good and bad.

Identifying internalized shame (self-hatred) and recognizing external shame (judgment) give us the foundation for peace and understanding. We should always work on them.

We will soon see how important global trade is to peace and federal programs are to society. It would be nice if there were indicators we could all agree on that would show success or failure. Alas, we don’t agree on much of anything.

Great conversation with neighbors about gun ownership last night. We live in the same place, but we inhabit different realities.
Never forget that.

The irony of demanding someone else self-reflect.
But I guess life is mostly ironic, don’t you think?

Credibility is built over a series of weak-tie, sometimes innocuous, interactions. If nothing else, use this time (and all times) to intentionally build trust, especially with people who don’t agree with you. It’s a subtle, but potent solution to our problems.

It’s so interesting how much thought you can put into a post that doesn’t even matter. I’ve already edited this one 6 times trying to get it “right”.
