![It's early morning—just past sunrise.
Tiraak is sitting at a table in the mess hall, having just settled in from his morning run.
Alone.
Nobody is awake yet.
He bites into a raw potato like an apple. Crunch.
He rubs an eye, evidently still a little tired. He's so stuck in his routine that he didn't end up sleeping in like he said he would. Learning that their quiet companion Echo was some sort of burgeoning avatar to a fell goddess didn't help. His qi sense isn't as strong as some of his peers, but he knew something felt off.
She seemed fairly meek in social situations, but fought with the ferocity and grace of a lion. Sometimes she would say or do strange things that contradict that initial impression. Could that be her goddess' will manifest? Can she be freed? Would she even want that?
Is it even any of his business?
No—gotta focus on the tournament for now. Detel, Modka and Grandpa Guz are relying on him. There must be something in Hao Jin's vault that can save Dad... there has to be.
He sprinkles some salt onto the potato and takes another bite. Crunch.
He lets out a big yawn, interrupting his pondering. Ugh. It wouldn't do well to try to power through grogginess on the last day of the tournament... maybe he'll take a nap—sleep in until the others begin stirring.
Yeah, that's a good idea.
He finishes up his starchy snack and then heads back to his bedroll, stepping softly to avoid disturbing his companions. Wrapped up in his cloak, he quickly drifts off to sleep.

Tiraak's a very calm and collected individual... but when the dragon blood in his veins runs hot and his emotions can't stay bottled up, he takes on a new form that shines like the sun.
Experimenting with shading after a long hiatus from it—bit rough, but I'm happy with it.
