Today I showed the designers that you can name cells in spreadsheets and use the names in formulas (i.e. "=PLAYER_LEVEL" instead of "=C12"). You can then use the Name Manager to track or rename them. I thought this was common knowledge, but I guess not, so sharing that tidbit here.

Learned that I am being laid off from Heart Machine, and will be leaving the studio later this month.

Do you need a contractor? I've got a track record of leading scope-friendly script revisions late in dev. I have also done a lot of consulting on new IPs and pitches/demos. Feel free to DM me!

Note that the story slowly sneaks up and surprises you halfway in, and doesn't take control until the last 1/3-1/4 of the game. Most people seem to stop before it becomes properly weird.

it's the most unhinged story I've ever encountered in a video game (that still has a logical plot), there's no world in which you can guess where it will go

I keep thinking how they could one-up themselves and really just settled for the possibility we might powerwash hell or somehow end up in space, possibly both
lizardengland.bsky.social
thinking about the time I told a friend who is a film/tv/games writer that the story in Powerwash Simulator was "brave" so she picked it up, and got so mad at me once the story started to unfold, and yet now has more hours in the game than I do

I need to know how unhinged the narrative is compared to the first game.

a whole article just to say four words "go to Format -> Rotation" 😢

They are better than in excel too, which always struggles a bit with the first/last angled columns and sometimes messes up the font placement

These were from when I started to go to other solar systems and moved toward automating building all-the-things. But the game really makes it hard to have a perfect organized setup and does really lean into messy-but-functional.

It’s delicious, only tried it when I made it and realized I had no rice. It’s already a butter and tomato sauce so mixing with pasta ended up a natural fit.

gotta try it a few more times before it becomes a new canon in this household the way "butter chicken and spaghetti" and "japanese curry meat pies" are

so I made pasta for lunch and put some soy sauce in my bechamel which I should probably not admit to but it's turning out quite inspired

I never did spreadsheets for Satisfactory, I used a miro board for that instead.

for no reason (other than I misclicked in my google drive and it pulled this up), here's some satisfying spreadsheets I made when I was playing Dyson Sphere Program

Watched Cure tonight and I have clearly seen it before, always remembering a scene just as it was happening but could not recall anything after, which is really on theme for a horror film about hypnotism and amnesia.

I bought a bag of white chocolate truffles this morning but the only evidence of that fact is this empty bag of white chocolate truffles I found six hours later.

I am happy for your success and also thinking very existentially about games lately

time to finally renew my expired US passport, I am sure there is no reason to think the government might have delays in processing any kind of paperwork right now

Finished my latest embroidery project. I’m not really into florals but I am following along with a book to learn some techniques. Next one is a sassy looking bird, but for fun I’m also going to sneak in a small junji ito project.
