I did this very early in life (my 20s) which is how I was able to recover physically and fiscally. If I had to do this in my own 50s, 60s....forget it. If prob have more resources but the toll it would take would be immense.

Make the country hostile to immigrants, eliminate safety nets, and leave a vulnerable population in the care of.....who? How many men will derail their jobs/careers to do this work? Women did this historically, but they also didn't work outside the home as much as we do now.....so.....??

The turnover in eldercare is immense already. We have an eternal nursing shortage. Some of the best Healthcare workers immigrated to the US and they are holding it down since (largely) white people (on the whole) can't or won't be bothered.

We (Humans) are living longer and we are older longer. And we in the US have no plan besides homecare or putting our aged in facilities staffed by underpaid and overworked immigrants.

If you are doing childcare, eventually the child grows and needs less care. You have a rough several years, but the child grows. There is only one outcome of elder care. This is not uplifting.

When you are doing eldercare, you do not have the time to do preventive care for yourself, your stressed levels are elevated, you are not sleeping....your money evaporates
