(tw: pet death) Finally got Mindy's ashes back from the vet, so now all three of our girls are together again. Commissioned a friend to make me a frame for their collars and I'm looking to find a local woodworker to make a custom urn w/ space for all three of them + one photo I have of them together

BUT, in a twist of fate, the barge that the removal company floated in to remove the boat has ALSO gotten stuck. So for now, The Minnow lives on.

There is literally artwork and merch for The Minnow now, including t-shirts and a bobblehead. Milwaukee local social media is full of near-daily updates on the boat, documenting the changing graffiti and the continued attempts to remove the boat

At this point, it's been stripped of anything valuable and covered in graffiti, but it's also become a weird sort of community icon. Even the graffiti on it has been local--from the slogan for Wolski's (a legendary bar whose stickers grace street poles and bumpers worldwide) to our local TV lawyer

In an attempt to not have my entire feed be sad posts about my cat...let me introduce you to my city's current obsession: an abandoned boat. Nicknamed "The Minnow" by the local press, the boat ran aground in mid-October in Milwaukee, near Bradford Beach in Milwaukee.

This little monster. She's been barely eating for the last few days, won't do more than sniff at her expensive wet food. Given her health, this is Not Good. Desperate for her to eat anything, I put out a can of Fancy Feast and she DESTROYED it in ten minutes.

Mindy is doing well. Still navigating her new normal but she's taking her meds like a champ and very much seeking us out for cuddles.

We're home now, all squared away with new meds and follow up appointments. Her eyes already look better than yesterday, though we won't know if the damage is permanent for a while yet. Until then, we cherish the time we have and give all the snuggles.
