According to available data, the murder rate in Europe for 2023 was 2.1 per 100,000 people. In 2023, the murder rate in the US was 5.7 per 100,000 people, down from 6.5 in 2022. However, the FBI's transition to a new crime reporting system may have led to an undercount of murders in 2023.
