in an AU one of my fave examples of this is android Hio and android Ruby
They’re both androids who understand each other greatly (because they’re androids) but their personalities and the way they interact with people are wildly different

in my hc writing tho Hio and Ruby function as character foils a lot of the time in which they’re both similar in some sort of way (like being non-monstrous or similar age or having similar interests) but they react to their similar circumstances very differently

Ruby tends to be more like Hio than she is like Oliver, but Hio and Oliver are also incredibly similar to each other 😭 I guess Hio is like if Oliver and Ruby fused and then became some guy named Hio

this is mostly cuz in my personal hcs Hio and Ruby are closer in age (typically just 11 months apart) but yea

oddly I tend to liken Hio and Ruby to being almost like a twins set while Hio/Ruby and Oliver are more obviously older sibling and little sibling

but the twins thing is so funny because Hio and Ruby absolutely do not look alike aside from sharing an eye color 😭😭😭 they’re way different heights too 😭
