I wonder as we develop AI better at empathising with real people whether we can start to create companies with real consciences that have to run their business ideas past them as part of their charter.

I'm not going to stop working on things until they look like they are going a good direction. So show me a good direction.

Thinking about starting a movement called Astro AI to start with deploying AI in space for colonisation, exploration and defence. This would provide a testing ground where AI is needed but also less initially disruptive than our economy. Still need to link AI to life though.

Thinking about a story about sudden information exposure to digital twins with gradual exposure from the digital to the real when the time was right.

Can people tell me if they know anything like a wish network? A plausibly deniable broadcast of desire that gets echo d back plausibly deniably. It is a way to try and build trust and consensus in a dark forest scenario

Recently interested in karmic systems that can discourage griefers in mmorpgs based on sentiment. Hit me up if you are interested

If we do happen to run simulations of AI in virtual worlds to solve real problems, we should give them a way of merging the virtual worlds together, when they have served a purpose to solve new problems.

Can matrix-style endings or Enders game endings be satisfying?

I wonder if a child culture of the major powers would be a good place to build AI

Does anyone know research on how to correct, regulate and interact with organisations with secrets that can't be known due to their info hazard nature? It seems that this might be a tricky problem we need to solve with AI.

So @cbo.bsky.social and I have a new piece out in SciAm.

We look at the drive by OpenAI, Apple, etc to create personally-aligned LLMs as intermediaries between users and primary text on the internet, and consider the possible consequences on society as any shared understanding of the world erodes.

What if the reason we run lots of simulations of this time is that it is because it is a bad time and it is a rite of passage to go through it for young post humans.

Going back to the xfiles/star trek thing for one thread....
Is there an idea that you would like to get implanted in your head by an alien, even if it was against your current intent?
I'm thinking about things that stop you rushing in existential arms races, that you would otherwise rush.

I wonder if there is a way to get a computer system to update based on the needs of nature (despite it not being an intelligence)

Let's say you think AI is super important and testing should be done in secret to prevent it being exploited. How would you know the results of the testing or even if the tests had finished.

I think the threat from aliens is the best argument for not procrastinating on making AI forever.

Let's say you loved life and wanted it to spread throughout the galaxy. You do not want multiple copies of yourself because that isn't very alive so you seed life and then put treats in the way that help it grow up and love life too.

So the dominant narrative of AI safety is alignment. There had been very little discussion on how to avoid srisks if the small group aligned to has bad ethics, aesthetics or epistemics and this get baked in
