and to my knowledge indeed, only Märklin’s own Central Stations and ESU’s ECOS are command stations that are Mfx compatible. The reason behind it being that ESU is the company than developed the Central Station for Märklin (to which extend I am not sure).

Haha 😀 No but in fact not really. That post was about bus technologies, not related to the track protocol, which can be DCC or Märklin Mfx (and others). It’s a completely different system from DCC that "speaks" another language with Mfx compatible decoders. Mfx is usually used with 3-rail HO layout.
