Toots on housing policy, economics, computing.
Eh, it was off to a pretty inauspicious start, publishing one of the most destructive books of the 20th century early in its history.

Transformer fire in the ground. This was the FD purging their lines.

Mamdani’s campaign focused relentlessly on items that fall in the red section of this table.

It’s gonna be bad.

I’ve warned Jerina she needs to be prepared for my “model trains phase.”

OP blocked me I guess, but here’s the excerpt from the Klein-Coates discussion I was responding to.

30,000 people die/yr in car crashes and Waymo is on track to take that to zero.

Boston City Council choosing to ban Waymo as part of the most blatant political corruption is a choice to murder Bostonians as part of a political kickback.

We gotta purge this from the Party.

The city planner mind cannot comprehend this

Every time I criticize building code complexity, someone is like, “BUT MUH SAFETY.”

Okay, look at this history of fires. The buildings being demolished between 1980 and 1995 would have been built in the 1900s-1920s.

So, like, the entire electrical code after, maybe, 1960s was marginal at best.
July 20, 2025 at 10:56 PM
This implies we reached diminishing returns somewhere around 1960.

Wilson running for mayor left, Foster running for council, right. Only one of these responses is YIMBY and credit where credit is due, it's nice to see that the progressive faction in town is no longer in lockstep on the disastrous MHA housing tax.

Lmao NIMBY lawsuit invalidates zoning code on a technicality (city did not file response to lawsuit in a timely manner), but the existing zoning code was repealed prior to passing the now invalidated one. So the city has no zoning code: reason.com/2025/07/08/n...

Grok having a normal one.

Lmao that Redmond/Bellevue border.

Digging this ACU. A great example of all the city’s character now being mega-illegal. :/

The MAGA base may be psycho, but there’s a lot of otherwise normal Americans being wooed by them and tolerating their malarkey because they’re more accepting of others (weirdly). There’s strong evidence that’s true even for immigrants and non-white folks.

The Doge cuts bill, Rep Randall (WA’s 6th CD) didn’t bother to show. Vote passed by 2 with 4 Dems not voting. Anyone know if she has a good excuse?
June 12, 2025 at 10:23 PM
NIMBY CM will do anything but allow more housing. I wonder if this has anything to do with the high rents. 🤔🤔🤔
