Every time I criticize building code complexity, someone is like, “BUT MUH SAFETY.”
Okay, look at this history of fires. The buildings being demolished between 1980 and 1995 would have been built in the 1900s-1920s.
So, like, the entire electrical code after, maybe, 1960s was marginal at best.

Lmao NIMBY lawsuit invalidates zoning code on a technicality (city did not file response to lawsuit in a timely manner), but the existing zoning code was repealed prior to passing the now invalidated one. So the city has no zoning code: reason.com/2025/07/08/n...

The MAGA base may be psycho, but there’s a lot of otherwise normal Americans being wooed by them and tolerating their malarkey because they’re more accepting of others (weirdly). There’s strong evidence that’s true even for immigrants and non-white folks.
