Dateline early 1994 and CF are struggling to fill its pages with anything and this weird AF "EDOS" system for buying games was around as, well, frankly, there were no published C64 games on any of the high street shelves!

75% was the Zzap! score back in the £9.95 full price era of August '86, with a drop for the budget release down to 68%, despite the game only costing one fifth of the original at £1.99. Drugs I tell you!

Saboteur

So, this is essentially a Speccy game, ported almost directly to the #C64, with a little colour clash removed. Okay. I just had a go and it is fast, responsive and not without a tickling of fun to play. The music is dire and I think the sequel is a much better game. Ninja...
A blue background has a fairly nicely-drawn ninja all in black, holding a shuriken and only the eyes being visible. The C64 loading screen for Saboteur.

The Bard's Tale II: The Destiny Knight

Whilst it is still a very good RPG and nothing to do with it being on the #C64, the game as a whole irks me somewhat with the annoying "Spectre Snare" aspect. It is my least preferred BT through 1-3. But the intro of the Wilderness is still great.
Is he wearing a COMMODORE belt..? A still from the opening intro sequence of The Bard's Tale 2 - The Destiny Knight. Dude in a crown and cloak is in a barn of some sort holding two shards of a glowing Destiny Wand. He has a beard. The C64 is glory.

Decent lunch that, too.

Yep. Constantly in my Top Five.

Zzap! loved it, of course, bestowing a 94% Sizzler back in June of '86. What the deuce they are banging on about Rob's SID tune being shit, I cannot begin to fathom. Ridiculous! Listen to it below in all its glory!

Spellbound

This game is bloody hard. This game is still bloody brilliant. I loves it, I do. #C64 SB is a cracking romp and has one of my favourite SID tunes playing throughout (BELOW). You have to manage all the characters' stats and do all sorts. I really should give it a proper go!
The c racking loading screen for the C64 conversion of "Spellbound". Massive-footed and massive-headed Magic Knight, is in a blue suit of armour and weirdly giving a thuimps up to a bumbling wizard in green and yellow starred robes and pointy hat. The wizard has his finger outstretched, not unlike E.T. and particles of magic are zorbing from thumb to finger. It's a VERY well known loading screen this. Glorious.

Ooooooooooooooh!

Excellent advocation of the game - I shall endeavour to get a play on! Any tips / non-spolier-esque..?

Didn't you learn to play that on a kalimba? 🤣
