I'm no fan of this gas but gas-to-coal displacement is absolute madness 😱
Apparently not entirely Trump-driven but caused by higher gas prices but still devastating for climate (and the health of Americans) 🔌💡

Surprised @politico.com doesn't name the main culprit here. "A member state looking out for their domestic industry" in a manner that undermines EU solidarity? 🤔 Perhaps who tried to negotiate a deal around their car industry? I wonder who that could be!

Consultancy marketing teams really reading the room in Brussels today, huh? Nothing going on at all, nope #EUSky

Great to see the amazing analysis by RMI (@rockymtninst.bsky.social) get picked up in mainstream press. It's the story of the decade but few people outside the energy sector realise just how far behind we've fallen.

ENTSOE has a dry sense a humour.

Headline: Germany splitting their bidding zone into 5 (!) saves €339 million/year, with payback in 4 to 8yrs.

Punchline: The Netherlands splitting in two saves €9mill/year; with ROI in 6 to ... 1240 years!

ENTSOE could not possibly comment which TSOs should pick.

Um, what on Earth @linkedin.com? Read the room a little

Well that would be dumb. Caveat that it's one option floated among many in a leak but this is nonsense.

Companies aren't signing long-term contracts because glut of LNG infra is forecast to crater prices by 2030. Why should the Commission volunteer to be left holding the bag?

Commission seem to be very good at integrating feedback from leaks.

Left: Friday leak with obvious gaps (Climate Law, Electrification!)
Right: Today's official version with multiple additions, including those Brussels bubble had decried the absence of

Ukraine responded to the EU's consultation on energy security and it includes a letter signed by a Deputy Minister.

It's really humbling to see a country at war put so much importance on a "technical" consultation like this.

I appreciate that the multimedia service do an amazing job sharing such a multilingual process but I do wish at least one version was available on normal social media, notably YouTube. Trying to find a specific segment and share it is insufferably difficult.

Halfway through Dan Jørgensen's hearing and he seems to be doing very well.

A quip every second answer and a laugh in the room every second quip 😉

C'mon. The UK economy can have a lil' 10bn in investments. As a treat.
October 15, 2024 at 8:41 PM
Oh it's going to be taxed higher than that because you also have VAT. And that's not counting network costs.

Currently, the electricity itself is only half of the electricity bill.

Bonkers move on France's energy tax.

From electricity being taxed 1€/MWh during the crisis (7€ less than gas) to 42€/MWh (22€ MORE than gas). That's before VAT and network charges.

France, championing its decarbonised energy and #electrification yet again 🤡

Trains from #Strasbourg are disrupted due to "smoke on a train". It seems an engine on the EP locomotive had a technical issue and they're not expecting things to be fully back to normal for at least another hour.

Absolute chaos in the station

In her opening, VdL even comments that the audience is the age of her children.
