Hi Trine, have you checked which species this is, or are? My experience from aquaria is that it could also be colony forming diatoms, somtimes they look very much like Pylaiella or Ectocarpus-

I think the general hypothesis was that hybridization would decrease over time, and there was a publication about it some years ago. You have nice weather! Have a great stay!
