I like to pick up magazines in the target language, eg Femme Actuelle in French, as they have articles on all sorts of topics & often contain advice for readers in how to deal with forms, etc.

I had a lovely low juniper bush in my garden before it was remodelled to 'make my life easier as I was away so much for work.
I'd cut Springsteen (thanks Otto Korrekt, I meant sprigs!) to put on a couple of my radiators & also to surround a big red candle on the dining table.

Dad used a wallpaper stripper before painting the walls but had to content with smoked treacly drops from the ceiling.

The 'wink' was because of my mastectomy 10 weeks before.
Son born c 6 weeks early so I could start chemo.

One thing that can hinder some students when answering questions like "What sport do you play?" or "What is your favourite food?" is the desire not to lie by substituting vocabulary they know for something they don't know but which is accurate for them.
